2 Universal Reasons Why Choosing to Be Happy Only Makes Sense

2 Universal facts of life: 1. Upsetting situations will constantly be around; 2. A moment is a moment that cannot be gotten back. Isn’t it therefore most logical a choice to make peace and let go; directing your focus toward your own wellbeing, contentment and happiness in as many moments as possible?

  1. Upsetting situations will constantly be around:

Make peace with it upfront, now, once-and-for-all: there’ll constantly be situations, experiences and people to upset you. Try as you may, you cannot control this; it’s just a (wonderfully cr*ppy!) part of life. 😌

Hehehehe, as an equalizer, sometimes you’re the one in the role of the ‘upsetter’ (the one doing something to result in another being upset) – unintentionally, of course; while someone else is the ‘upsetee’ (upset with you).

Either way, it’s just human nature that things sometimes don’t flow according to your vision or your plan; and you don’t always get your desires, wants and needs met (or sometimes you do, but not to the standards you expect).

So why not simply choose to laugh at the reality of a situation, accept it for what it is, let go and move on as care-freely and as peacefully as possible? After all, it’s almost certain that nobody else (certainly not the person upsetting you) is paying the situation as much attention as you yourself are. Neither is anyone else wasting any energy over it.

Make peace (even if it’s the best kind – just quietly internally with yourself). Let go, move on, be happy!

You’re driving down a middle-lane of the highway, following all of the road-rules, and with your awareness in peak form. You’re merrily whistling along to your favorite tune and you’re in the flow while you’re maximizing your good feelings before arriving at the office for a crazy day ahead…

You made a conscious decision to be happy, well done! 😌

Then, another driver whizzes by you and honks his horn endlessly, sticking his middle-finger out of his car-window…

Of course, it’s a baffling and upsetting situation to say the least, ‘cos you obviously don’t know where his actions originated from.

How do you react? Do you instantly sign-language him also? Do you give chase? Do you allow the experience to consume you for the remainder of your drive? Do you perhaps vent to colleagues at work (which almost certainly spirals into at least a 20minute complaining-session about the state of the traffic in general)?

Or do you, in all of your wisdom and care for yourself, decide to give the situation the few seconds of attention that it deserves (albeit if only to get over the shock), and move on with the balanced flow of your life again?

Perhaps even wish the seemingly crazy guy well, in your heart and in your mind? After all, who knows what’s going on his life, or what that incident was really about? Or even if it was truly intended to be directed at you?

Challenging situations and experiences – sometimes heart-wrenching, mind-numbing, spirit-sapping and mind-boggling – will come along in life. It’s not like there’s going to be any shortage of cr*ppy moments for you to deal with.

So why choose anything other than peace and calm (if not outright happiness) in each other moment that you’re actually capable of doing so?

A moment spent in being upset, angry, disappointed or fearful is a moment of your life lost. All the moments of your life make up your lifetime. Given a choice, wouldn’t you choose to be in happiness and peace in each moment, rather?

Each moment is your moment. Choose how you feel in every moment. Brighten your thoughts and allow your emotions to automatically lighten.

Let go, choose you, it only makes sense! 😌
